Sorting workflow

  1. Waste is received (appears in inventory)

  2. Go to Sort

  3. Choose an eligible item (received, not end-of-life, not already sorted)

  4. Select one or more sorting groups

  5. Allocate quantities if splitting

  6. Submit sorting

After sorting

  • If split: original item becomes end-of-life

  • Child items are created with their own identifiers

  • A sorting record is created for audit purposes

Assigning Sorting Groups to Waste Items

There are three ways sorting groups can be assigned.

Method 1: During receival (most common)

  • Choose sorting group in the receival flow

  • Required if Sorting is enabled at site level

  • Items are categorised immediately

Method 2: Through a sorting operation

  • Go to Sort

  • Select the item

  • Assign one group (simple) or multiple groups (split + allocate quantities)

Method 3: Pre-defined waste items (templates)

  • Site Settings → Pre-defined Waste Items

  • Assign a default sorting group (optionally lock it)

  • Items created from templates inherit the group

Editing sorting groups

  • After receival: update via sorting operations (cannot directly edit the field)

  • Before receival: can be changed during job editing (status permitting)

Validation

  • Sorting group must belong to the site

  • Archived groups cannot be assigned

  • If Sorting is enabled, a sorting group is required before completion
