What is a Task?

A task is a single work item within a job. Tasks break the job into steps that can be scheduled, assigned, and tracked independently.

Task types

Type

Purpose

Transport waste

Collect waste from the customer site and move it toward drop-off or receival

Key fields

  • Reference number (sequential within the job)

  • Description and tags

  • Status

  • Origin and destination (depends on task type)

  • Allocated waste items

  • Schedule (preferred date or days, calendar assignment)

  • Notes and attachments

Task statuses

Typical progression for transport work:

  • Unscheduled: default; not yet on the calendar

  • Scheduled: has a scheduled date

  • Assigned: scheduled with driver and vehicle; collection actions are available

  • Collected: waste collected; may proceed to drop-off or receival

  • Dropped Off: drop-off step completed (only when drop-off is enabled for your organisation)

  • Completed: task finished

  • Cancelled: task cancelled

Which statuses appear and the order you move through them depend on task type and site configuration (for example, sites without drop-off skip Dropped Off).

Allocation rules (summary)

  • Every collection item on the job must be allocated to at least one transport waste task.

  • Non-count items are allocated to one transport task.

  • Count items can be split across multiple transport tasks.
