Driver basics

This guide is for drivers completing assigned work in WasteConnect. Office staff can use it to understand the field workflow.

Start the day

  1. Sign in and confirm the correct site is selected.

  2. Open Calendar or Map to see today's (or this week's) tasks.

  3. On mobile, the map may show only your assigned tasks.

  4. Open a task to review origin, destination, items, and any driver notes on the customer site.

Tasks you can collect from are typically in Assigned status (scheduled with a driver and vehicle).

Complete a transport waste task

Most collection work uses a Transport waste task.

Collect

  1. Open the task and start Collect (or the equivalent action on your device).

  2. Confirm which waste items you are taking.

  3. Choose the outcome:

    • Full collection - you collected the checked items.

    • Partial collection - you collected some items; leave a note for anything not taken.

    • Empty visit - you attended but collected nothing; you must enter a note explaining why.

Partial and empty visits are different: partial means something was picked up; empty means there was nothing to collect.

After collection

Depending on the job:

  • Drop off at a destination when the transport task includes a drop-off step.

  • Receival at your site if the job is configured to receive at the facility.

Follow the prompts on the task until it reaches Completed (or intermediate statuses your site uses, such as Collected then Dropped Off).

If something is wrong

Use notes on the task or contact dispatch. Do not change customer or job details on site unless your organisation allows it.
